Joy That Comes From God’s Work

“For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.”

Psalm 92:4 reminds us where true joy is found. The psalmist does not say joy comes from easy circumstances, personal success, or everything going according to plan. Instead, joy flows from recognizing the work of the Lord. When we pause and reflect on what God has done—and what God is still doing—gladness rises in our hearts.

Think about the phrase, “You have made me glad.” Joy here is not self-generated; it is God-given. Life has a way of draining us—responsibilities, disappointments, unanswered prayers—but God restores joy when we look again at His hands at work. Creation itself speaks of His power and care. More personally, His work is seen in our lives through protection, provision, forgiveness, and guidance, even when we didn’t recognize it at the time.

The psalmist also says, “I will triumph in the works of Your hands.” This is a declaration of trust. Triumph doesn’t always mean immediate victory; sometimes it means confident praise while waiting. When we remember that our lives are in God’s hands, we can rejoice even in seasons of uncertainty. God’s work is never careless, never rushed, and never wasted.

This verse invites us to shift our focus. Instead of fixating on what is wrong, we are called to celebrate what God has already done and to trust what God is still doing behind the scenes. Gratitude opens our eyes to joy. Praise strengthens our faith. When we rejoice in God’s work, our hearts are lifted, and our perspective changes.

Today, take a moment to reflect on the works of the Lord in your life—big and small. Let that remembrance stir joy within you. God is still at work, and His hands are faithful.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the joy that comes from Your work in our lives. Help us to see Your hand even when circumstances are difficult. Teach us to rejoice, to trust, and to praise You for all You have done and all You are still doing. Fill our hearts with gladness and our lives with gratitude as we walk in faith each day.
In Jesus’ name,
AMEN!
