Renewed on the Inside
“. . . though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.”
2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)
Aging is a reality we all face. The outward man—the physical body—grows weaker, slower, and more fragile. Cooler weather often highlights this truth, making our bones ache and our joints stiffen. But Paul reminds us of something glorious: while the outward man declines, “. . . the inward man is being renewed day by day.”
This renewal is not dependent on physical strength. It is not hindered by age. It is not slowed by aching bones. The Holy Spirit works within us continually, shaping us, strengthening us, and drawing us closer to Christ.
You may feel physically worn out, but spiritually you are being made new. God is refining your character, deepening your wisdom, strengthening your faith, and enriching your hope. The aches of aging cannot stop the renewing work of the Holy Spirit.
Every day—whether your bones feel strong or sore—God is doing something inside you that is eternal. Your body may be affected by the cold, but your spirit is warmed by His presence. Your joints may stiffen, but your heart grows more flexible to His will. Your steps may slow, but your spiritual walk grows steadier.
Take comfort today: God is renewing you, and His work will not stop.
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, renew me daily in Your Spirit. Let Your strength rise within me even when my body feels worn. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
