FRIDAY
He Walks Beside You
“So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.”
Luke 24:15 (NKJV)
Two discouraged followers were walking home from Jerusalem. Their hopes had died with Jesus on the cross. As they talked about it, Jesus Himself came near and walked with them. But they did not recognize Him.
Think about that. They were walking with Jesus and did not know it. He asked what they were talking about, and they poured out their sadness. He listened. Then He opened the Scriptures and showed them how it all pointed to Him. Later they said their hearts burned within them as He talked with them on the road.
Here is the good news for your walk. Jesus does not wait at the end of the road for you to get your life together. He comes alongside you in your confusion and disappointment. He is there on the drive to work, in the hospital hallway, and in the quiet kitchen after everyone has gone to bed.
That changes how we think about a daily walk. It is not a chore we perform to earn His attention. It is learning to notice the One who is already beside us. He said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me” (Matthew 11:29). A yoke is a shared load, and He pulls with you.
Today, try saying quietly, “Jesus, I know You are with me right now.” Say it at lunch, at a red light, or while you wash dishes. Over time, you will begin to recognize His company.
Dear Jesus, thank You for walking with me when I do not feel it and when I do not see it. Open my eyes to know You are near. Teach me to lean on You and to share the load You never meant me to carry alone. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
