“Strength for the Week After the Celebration”

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)

As we move past the celebrations of Independence Day, our hearts naturally turn from fireworks and festivities to the quieter rhythms of everyday life. This week invites us to reflect on a deeper kind of strength–the spiritual strength God provides for every challenge, every season, and every step forward. May these devotionals help you walk in His power and rest in His presence.

Psalm 46:1 tells us that God is not just strong; He is our strength. He is not distant; He is present. He is not occasionally helpful; He is a very present help. Spiritual strength is not something we muster up. It is something we receive. It flows from relationship, not resolve.

Many people feel spiritually tired after seasons of activity. God invites us to rest in Him, not collapse from exhaustion. He becomes our refuge—the safe place we run to—and our strength—the power we stand in. When we rely on our own strength, we burn out. When we rely on His, we stand firm.

This week, let God be your refuge before He needs to be your rescue. Spend time with Him. Lean into His Word. Let His presence steady your heart. Spiritual strength grows not by trying harder but by trusting deeper.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for being my refuge and strength. Help me rely on Your presence this week and not my own abilities. Fill me with Your peace and power. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
