Living Wisely in a Fast-Moving World

Friday – Teach Us to Number Our Days

“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Psalm 90:12 (NKJV)

After reflecting on God’s eternity and our brevity, Moses arrives at the prayer that ties everything together. Wisdom isn’t automatic. It’s learned. And it begins with perspective—seeing life the way God sees it.

To “number our days” means to live intentionally, gratefully, and purposefully. It means recognizing that every day is a stewardship. It means choosing what matters over what merely distracts. It means living with eternity in mind while walking faithfully in the present.

This is where the whole psalm leads: not despair, but wisdom. Not fear, but clarity. Not urgency, but purpose. When God becomes our dwelling place, we trust His eternal nature. When we accept our limited days, we begin to live with a wisdom that shapes everything.

Closing Prayer

Lord, teach me to number my days. Give me a heart of wisdom that reflects Your priorities. Help me live today with purpose, gratitude, and faith. Be my dwelling place now and forever. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
