“But those who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength . . .”
Isaiah 40:31a (NKJV)
Waiting is one of the hardest forms of trust. We often want God to act quickly, clearly, and visibly. But Scripture teaches that waiting is not wasted time—it is renewal time. When we wait on the Lord, we are not sitting in inactivity; we are sitting in dependence.
Isaiah says that those who wait on the Lord will “renew their strength.” The Hebrew picture is of exchanging worn-out strength for fresh strength—like trading in old garments for new ones. Trusting God in the waiting means believing He is working even when you cannot see movement.
Waiting well requires three things:
- Stillness — quieting your heart before God.
- Surrender — releasing your timeline and expectations.
- Strengthening — allowing God to refill what life has drained.
The promise is powerful: you will mount up with wings like eagles. Eagles don’t flap frantically; they soar effortlessly on the wind God provides. That is trust—resting in God’s lift rather than your own effort.
If you are waiting today, you are not stuck. You are being strengthened. Trust Him enough to stay in the waiting until He says, “Now.”
Closing Prayer:
Lord, help me wait with faith instead of frustration. Renew my strength as I trust Your timing and Your wisdom. Lift me above discouragement and teach me to soar in Your strength. In Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!
