Casting What You Cannot Carry

Wednesday

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

Anxiety is heavy because it was never meant to be carried alone. Peter writes, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” The word “casting” is intentional—it means to throw something off with force, to release what is weighing you down.

Many believers try to manage anxiety instead of surrendering it. We hold onto worry, analyze it, rehearse it, and try to solve it. But Peter tells us to cast it—remove it from our hands and place it fully into God’s.

Why? Because “He cares for you.” Not in a general, distant sense, but personally and deeply. God is not annoyed by your anxiety. He is not disappointed in your weakness. He invites your burdens because His heart is tender toward you.

Casting your cares is not a one-time act—it is a daily rhythm. Anxiety often returns, but so does God’s invitation. Every time worry rises, you have a choice: carry it or cast it.

When you cast your cares, you are declaring:

  • God is stronger than this.
  • God is wiser than this.
  • God is closer than this.
  • God is willing to carry this.

Anxiety loses power when placed in God’s hands.

Closing Prayer:

Father, I cast my cares on You today. Take what I cannot carry and fill my heart with Your peace. Remind me of Your love and teach me to trust Your strength. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
