“For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (NKJV)
On May 22, 1761, the very first life insurance policy in North America was issued in Philadelphia. It was a simple idea with a profound purpose: to provide security for loved ones when life takes an unexpected turn. Since then, insurance has grown into a massive industry—policies for homes, cars, health, travel, and even our pets. We insure everything because we know life is uncertain.
But long before the first policy was ever written, God issued the greatest life insurance plan the world has ever known.
John 3:16 tells us plainly: God loved the world so much that He gave His Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. That’s not just coverage for a moment—it’s coverage for eternity. No premiums. No deductibles. No exclusions. No fine print. Just grace.
Think about the contrast. Earthly insurance can protect your possessions. God’s insurance protects your soul.
Earthly insurance can replace what you lost. God’s insurance gives you what you could never earn.
Earthly insurance expires. God’s promise never does.
When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the full cost of our eternal security. When we accept Him as Lord and Savior, we are covered—fully, completely, forever. Not because we deserve it, but because God loves us with a love deeper than any policy could ever describe.
And unlike earthly insurance, this divine policy doesn’t just activate when we die. It transforms how we live right now. It gives us peace in uncertainty, hope in hardship, courage in trials, and joy in the everyday moments. We walk through life knowing that our future is secure in the hands of the One who conquered death.
Talk about insurance! Talk about security! Talk about love!
On a day when we remember the first life insurance policy, let’s celebrate the greatest one ever offered—the one written in the blood of Christ, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and guaranteed by the Father Himself.
Let me close by saying, if you have never asked Jesus into your life, you can do that right now, wherever you are. Simply close your eyes and tell God you know that Jesus died for you and that you are asking Him to come into your heart to save you. If you do that, just leave me a comment or reply to me and I’ll gladly pray with you and help you on your journey to eternal life.
Closing Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving us so deeply that You provided eternal life through Your Son. Help us never take for granted the incredible gift of salvation and the security we have in You. Strengthen our faith, fill us with gratitude, and remind us daily that our future is safe in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
