Almost A Christian?

I know we have all had opportunities to lead others to Christ and find them rejecting the offer. At least, I know I have. When that happens, I’m often reminded of King Agrippa’s response to the Apostle Paul in Acts 26:28 when he said, “Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian (KJV). In fact, Festus called Paul a mad man and that he was out of his mind to be making such an offer to the king.

Some people are almost good too, but almost to hit the mark of being good is really to miss it altogether. In the Christian world, the word “sin” means to miss the mark. In other words, we have all fallen short of the glory of God. By that I mean, God created us to have fellowship with Him but being a descendant of the first man and woman on earth, we inherited the sin nature from them and therefore broke the fellowship God had created.

No matter how hard we try to restore that fellowship, in our own nature, we miss that mark. God only provided one way to reconnect that fellowship, and that is by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of our lives through faith.

An almost Christian is one of the most harmful creatures in the world. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is one of those false prophets our Lord tells us to beware of, who would persuade men the way to heaven is broader than it really is.

Do you want to go through life knowing that you almost became a Christian? I didn’t think so. You don’t have to either. Today is the day of salvation. Just pray this prayer right now:

Father, I am a sinner and I believe you sent Your Son Jesus to die for my sins. I ask you to come into my heart and save me right now. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen!”

If you prayed that prayer, I encourage you to leave a comment by clicking on the “Leave a Comment” at the top of this blog and leave me your contact information so that I can reach out to you and tell you the next step you need to take to build on your Christian walk with the Lord.

  1. My salvation came when I believed and trusted that Lord Jesus’ shed blood on the cross served as God’s perfect sacrifice to atone for the sin-nature that I inherited and thus, the sins that I’d committed. A peace that I never imagined has filled my life with a neverending joy, and a desire to share His teachings.
In the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, I learned of the character of God, the deity of Christ, and that the Lord Jesus came to the earth as ‘God in the flesh’ to fulfill the prophecies and to fulfill the Law.
The Epistles of Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, taught me that a new set of instructions were given to a Gentile world and time, allowing God’s blessings to the entire world without having to go through Israel. (The only way for a Gentile to be blessed by God was to bless Israel first) Paul’s teachings, given by the Ascended Lord, have freed me from requirements of the Law given to Moses and made me a ‘new creature,’ the Church, the Body of Christ. Paul (inspired by the Holy Spirit) explains that trusting the Lord’s sacrificed life for my salvation gives me a new life, position, and mission.
    Praise Jesus!
